In Three

In 2004, I recorded and released a jazz trio album called “Journey to Gythia”.

Now, after twenty years, I returned to my jazz roots to take a new snap shot of my playing.

I enlisted the support of Danny Benedikt, who played drums and percussion on the previous album.

In addition, Gonn Shani, an up and coming new bass player, agreed to become my colleague in this project.

I think you will agree that both players made a wonderful contribution to the conversation.

The album is called “In Three”, not just because it is written for a trio of jazz improvisors, but because somehow, after writing and rehearsing materials for about a month, it turned out that four out of seven tunes were in 3/4 time – (jazz) waltzes.

“In Three (or not)” is a melody that passes through a number of time signatures before it settles into a robust jazz waltz tempo for the improvised solos.

Each number on the album, from a traditional slow blues to an up-tempo, African inspired theme, has a different tempo, and a different groove, even if it is “in three”.

The first single will ‘drop’ on YouTube on 26/11/2024.

At the same time the whole album will be available for streaming (max. 3 times), and download from Bandcamp. A bonus take will be included automatically for those who purchase the complete album.
